Lesson 150: The Last Supper

This week’s lesson will be the last supper. The event (like much of the account of Jesus’ Passion/resurrection) is in all four gospels: Matt. 26:17-30, Mark. 14:12-26, Luke. 22:7-39 and John. 13:1-17:26. The synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) present Jesus’ ‘official’ announcement of the ushering in of a new (and final) blood covenant, and John, in significant detail, shares Jesus’ teaching of how that New Covenant relationship with the Trinitarian God will look (both here on earth, and in heaven).

There is SO MUCH that went on during Jesus’ last meal with the disciples, it is very difficult to resist the urge to simply base the next 6 months of lessons on this time in history. During that meal, Jesus announced his betrayal, and denials. He formally promised the coming of the Holy Spirit and announced the coming of the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31, but alluded to in ALL of Scripture in God’s PROMISE to BE SALVATION for mankind. So we’ll focus on this important topic of the New Covenant, and will share a video that explains God’s covenants quite nicely:

In your preparation, after reading all four versions, please see a good capsule summary regarding blood covenants in scripture found at: Got Questions.
