Lesson 123: The Parable of the Sower and the Soils

This lesson is a benchmark, in that we’re making the transition from telling of the miracles of Jesus to sharing the teachings (parables) of Jesus.

The pattern for the miracles was twofold – EVERY miracle demonstrated Jesus’ authority as God (over some specific realm of creation), and EACH miracle gave a glimpse of the Kingdom of Heaven from various perspectives.

In the same way, Jesus’ teachings (particularly in the form of parables) are PRIMARILY meant to help the hearer better understand who Jesus IS, and also to teach about the Kingdom Of God – His heavenly home, where He is calling a people to be with Him forever.

This lesson is the parable of the sower (Matthew 13:1-23, Mark 4:1-20, and Luke 8:1-15). It has all the elements of a classic Jesus parable, starting with the depth of the universe, contained in a teachable lesson, and including His explanation after His disciples didn’t get it.

Memory Verse: To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. Matthew 13:12
